Hidden Passages and Servants Stair Tour
Every wanted to go behind the scenes at Holkham Hall? Well, now is your chance. A guide takes the curious along hidden passages and up servants’ stairs in the grand house via a fascinating 90 mins tour. A rare opportunity to see parts of the Hall usually kept private. An Evening with Black Shuck Distillery
Enjoy a gin and spirits tasting master class with one of the county’s top distillers. Also on hand to provide nibbles, such as charcuterie and cheeses, will be the Norfolk Deli. During the evening you’ll learn about the history of gin, what makes Blackshuck unique and how important botanicals are to the drink. The evening ends with a cocktail. Price £25. Norfolk and Norwich Festival
Music, visual arts, circus, theatre, dance – it’s all happening at The Norfolk and Norwich Festival. The big event for the East of England, don’t miss some unique acts. Check out live theatre in Rose Lane Car Park, Norwich with Peacophobia, for instance. Or there’s the family fun day out at the Party in Chapelfield Gardens. Astrology Bingo with Figs in Wigs looks like a definite laugh, while dat Brass will introduce you to some punk/jazz sounds. The Festival runs from 13 -29 May. Find out more at
Crab & Lobster Festival
The sea-faring heritage of Cromer and Sheringham starts with the Grand Opening Variety Concert at the Pier Pavilion Theatre in Cromer. You’ll also find a street market with live performers and street theatre, a cookery theatre and various arts and crafts activities kids get involved in. The Scrumptious Seafood Trail takes in more than 35 local restaurants, cafés, and pubs. No tickets are needed. Just turn up on May 15 and 16.
Let’s Rock Norwich!
Head to Norwich for this retro music festival, with such well-known headlining acts as The Human League, Billy Ocean, Level 42 and Nik Kershaw. A festival not to be missed for those who came of age in the 1980s. It’s on May 28 at Earlham Park and from 11am to 11pm. Tickets cost £11.25 from letsrocknorwich.com
Fairy Fair 2022
Celebrate spring with the little people at the 2022 Fairy Fair in Bradmoor Woods. Kids can get involved in arts, crafts, theatre and learn about magical folklore. Then there is the country-style fair, with live music, story-telling, market stalls, food & drink and organised woodland walks. Visit the Fairy King and Fairy Queen in their beautiful hut and check out the stilt-walking fairies. This magical family event is on May 28 and 29. Tickets, cost £11.37, from here.
