Norfolk has some beautiful beaches and cosy seaside towns. In our humble opinion, Cromer is one of the best that you can hop on over to for a fun day out whatever the weather.
Cromer Pier
Cromer Pier is a grade listed 151 metre long traditional pier, complete with arcade style amusements, an RNLI lifeboat centre, cafe and gift shop. Plus the cut-out photo booths you know you’ll need to use for Instagram! There’s also a fully functioning theatre which hosts tribute acts like the Johnny Cash show and it’s own pier show.
Amazona Zoo
Amazona zoo is the perfect place to get up close with the animals. With over 200 animals, with the animals primarily from South America. From tapirs to Jaguars, there’s bound to be at least one furry face you fall in love with. It also has both indoor and outdoor play areas and a large tropical style yurt for birthday parties – for some summer days you can even use their camping site!
Beach by the book
Cromer has some of the most beautiful beaches in Norfolk – long stretches of Golden sand sat next to a gorgeously blue sea, with plenty of rock pools to dive in too! There’s a wide variety of walks both long and short where you can see even more of the coast or look ahead to the dramatic cliffs. Plus there’s plenty of ice cream stops and arcades along the way!
Bucketfuls of Crab
If you know anything about Norfolk, you must have heard about Cromer Crab – right? Luckily, you can catch it yourself for free off Cromer pier! All you’ll need to do is buy some crabbing gear from their gift shop and temp them to your net with some tasty mackerel. If you’d prefer not to get your hands dirty, then it’s hard to go wrong with the Crab Pot cafe in the centre of town, which is often packed with both visitors and locals getting a taste of their delicious dishes.
Hillside Horses
This one’s just on the outskirts of Cromer – but we promise it’s good enough to count! A heartwarming day out where you’ll meet horses, donkeys, cows and chickens. It has an indoor area for when the weather gets wet, blacksmith days and an ‘adoption’ of an animal in the sanctuary included in the ticket price – a very reasonable £6 for adults, and £4 for children – with kids under 3 going free!
