A Day Out at Strumpshaw Fen

A day out at RSPB Strumpshaw Fen Reserve will get you close and personal with the likes of geese, kingfishers, ducks, herons, and in Spring/ Summer the famous Norfolk hawker Dragonfly.
Grab your wellies and enjoy the relaxing natural scenery nestled in the heart of Norfolk alongside the Norfolk Broads.
Binoculars
Whether you are a seasoned professional bird watcher or an avid amateur, a day out at Strumpshaw Fen would not be complete without hiring some binoculars to ensure you are spotting all the fabulous wildlife that surrounds you. Entry is free to all RSPB members, and there is pool dipping equipment available for the children.
Food and drink
Exploring all Strumpshaw Fen has on offer such as the reedbeds, woodlands, fenland and meadows is hungry work so pop back to reception as there is a selection of coffee, tea and snacks to purchase. Or why not pack up a picnic and head to one of the reserves dedicated picnic areas and enjoy your lunch in the beautiful Norfolk countryside.
Hides
There are three hides on offer for you to really get up close to some of the wildlife that resides in this 8km reserve. Fancy yourself a budding nature photographer? Don’t forget to take your camera to capture the perfect photo on your day out at Strumpshhaw Fen.
Trails
You are spoilt for choice with the three trails the park has; Meadow Trail, Woodland Trail and the Fen Trail all varying slightly in distance and what they have to offer. Why not speak to a staff member who can advise you of the trail best suited to you!
Conservation
Spending a day out at Strumpshaw Fen is aiding the conservation effort of the reserve. It has been described as a hidden gem which borders Norwich and is doing some fantastic work for the wildlife and surrounding areas.
