Snetterton is situated just 10 miles south of No. 10 The Abbey self-serviced apartments at Wymondham. A day out at Snetterton race track starts by driving down the Attleborough bypass and turning onto London Road. Corporate hospitality packages are popular as Snetterton is home to the British Touring Car Championship, British Formula Three and the British Superbike Championship; all can be booked on an individual basis. The 300 circuit is 2.97 miles long, Snetterton’s longest layout and the second longest racing track in the country. It brings international levels of racing to the circuit as it has an FIA Grade Two licence. Snetterton 200 has some re-profiled areas to provide better opportunities for over-taking. This layout is used mainly for club and local racing. Snetterton 100 comprises the one mile infield section and is mainly used for testing and as a race school.
A day out at Snetterton race track would not be complete without soaking up some of its special history
It’s a historic site and you get a really good feel of the proud history of aviation as well as motor racing as the site was originally an airfield. The original circuit opened in 1953, was laid out on the runways and taxiways of the form RAF Snetterton Heath air base. The track was also used by Team Lotus (Formula One) and Norfolk Racing Co (Le Mans) to test their racing cars. A new infield section was built in 2010 and significant track improvements made with, among other features, a new one mile infield section which was renamed Montreal in deference to being modelled on the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve hairpin. In 2016, the Montreal hairpin was renamed Wilson, in memory of the Yorkshire Indy Car driver, 2015 Pocono 500.
